Table Manners: Table & Apron, a share menu evening…
There was nothing magical about this evening but a spread of delectable and decadent entries, served to share made for a very warm sit down non-the-less. It was a, “Garden of Evening Mist,” with nothing stand out except for the entrees in the likes of their specialty Charred Ocra and the very fresh Calamari and Zucchini, topped with Brown Butter and Kalamata Olives, the start of the meal proved a highlight of the meal.
Later, I was left a little unimpressed with the rest of the evening’s fare. Mostly a share menu, the rest of the evening’s delights proved a little bland, with the fried chicken and sticky pork ribs proving to be the highlight of this remotely mediocre translation of an evening spent with good company and decadent desert menu items.
We finished with the Mushroom Conchiglie and raised the ante for at least the last portion of the meal. The creamy pasta special, served with miso butter, soft egg and local mushrooms were as fresh as the squid to begin the meal with and I was not left disappointed.
Being as these are their most noteworthy dishes the overall meal was not to die for but was luscious enough to leave a lasting impression on the evening’s walk-through — a taste test, as it were…
We finished our meal with one of the aforementioned sweets in the the Sticky Date Pudding, and I do have to say, it was worth the entire meal on it’s own… just building up to it, and I don’t normally like sweets.
And on one final note, the service was good… as always, convenience won out again, in a lack-luster, mediocre evening, spent with preferred company.
