Food is a fundamental part of traditional Chinese upbringing and togetherness. This spread was recently had by a dear friend of mine in Hong Kong and some of the favorites listed below are amongst the more appetizing fair in customary Chinese Sichuan Cooking… for the home. Where restaurants fail in its decadent and fine dining approach this fare is particularly enticing because it was done by a woman(mother) who has crossed many generations and is fact seen the cycle of life pass her by twice and on the third life cycle now — I do know that it is rude to reveal a ladies age — but this young-at-heart woman is not just a widow and a mother… she also happens to be a mean home-cook.

Life to the Chinese are a mixed bag of tricks, from the game of life, Mah Jong to practicing family dinner sit downs to that feeling of togetherness and prosperity during Chinese New Year, life for a Sweet & Simple Chinese People could not sum itself up better than with a dandy meal made home-cooked for our delight and decadence. Traditional Chinese Fare is on the Agenda today and here are some of the more delectable treats cooked by the mother of that dear-old-friend of mine… Fiona Chan of Hong Kong. Anyone want to see how cute she is? Neah… just take a shot at any of these restaurant-worthy dishes and be ready to be proved wrong. Family is where the heart is and food is the cornerstone of these traditional values. I only wish that I could get a hold of some of mom’s secret recipes…. clearly on display here, simply to drool over. Tell you the truth I don’t even know what some of these delights would be called, or even how to order them in a Sichuan Restaurant — that delectable wouldn’t you say?

Chopped Pepper Fish Head and Sichuan Bobo Chicken remain favorites in traditional Chinese home cooking and a sit down with the family for a meal.
